Umbramoths
In "Day" (The Acolyte 1.4), Osha Aniseya and a group of Jedi encounter the threatening Umbramoths in the dark jungle on the planet Khofar. The Umbramoths are drawn to Sol's lightsaber, befitting the meaning of the name "Umbramoth." The most well-known characteristic of moths is that they are drawn to light, and "umbra" refers to the deepest part of a shadow. Shadows are cast by sources of light – such as the sun (Latin "sol").
In "Night" (The Acolyte 1.5), the Sith Lord Qimir slaughters several Jedi and nearly defeats Sol before Osha has the idea to attach her flashlight droid Pip to him, causing the Umbramoths to swarm him. This duology of episodes – "Day" and "Night" – is built around the duality of light and darkness. Sol and Qimir (the two characters attacked by the Umbramoths) are equally matched opposites, but Osha is able to best the dark side wielder by harnessing both light (Pip's flashlight) and darkness (the Umbramoths).
