Salacious Crumb
In Return of the Jedi, Jabba the Hutt is always accompanied by his pet Kowakian monkey lizard, Salacious Crumb. Salacious Crumb's name points to two of his master's vices: lust and gluttony.
Although both are forms of sexual immorality, being "salacious" is not necessarily the same as being promiscuous. Salaciousness is more about being an observer than a participant; it implies an inappropriate curiosity about sexual matters and a propensity to take indecent pleasure in bawdy or pornographic jokes or stories. Salacious Crumb lives up to his name when he ogles the scantily clad Princess Leia Organa in Jabba's palace.
A "crumb" is a small fragment of food. Crumbs fall off of food as it is eaten, and they can be scavenged by those around the eater. Whereas Jabba's grotesque girth points to his great appetite, Salacious Crumb is small and nimble; he subsists on the crumbs Jabba leaves behind.
Salacious Crumb does not appear to play any kind of active role in Jabba's court; he is not the one enslaving Leia or sentencing Luke and Han to death. This does not mean he is virtuous, though. His entire function is to observe, approve, and scrape some meager sustenance out of his master's vices.
