Like Father, Like Son
After his return to the light side in The Rise of Skywalker, Ben Solo makes some comic gestures that recall the mannerisms of his father, Han Solo. When he enters the Sith Temple on Exegol to help Rey, Ben leaps from one rock ledge to another and lands with a graceless thud and a grunted, wryly delivered “Ow!” While he was Kylo Ren, he never would have acknowledged his fragility, let alone made light of it, whereas his father was no stranger to self-deprecating humor.
As he runs onward, he shoots an enemy without looking at him, recalling a scene in The Force Awakens when Han did the same.
Then, when he is surrounded by the Knights of Ren and Rey gives him a lightsaber through the Force, Ben shrugs with outstretched hands before attacking. The gesture echoes the way Han, in Return of the Jedi, teased the Stormtroopers on Endor after he lured them into a trap.
When he was Kylo Ren, Ben sought to deny his connection to his father: “Your son is gone. He was weak and foolish like his father, so I destroyed him.” But now that he has left behind his alter ego and reconciled with his father, he resembles him once more.
