Freck
In "Part III" of Obi-Wan Kenobi, the titular Jedi encounters the mole-like alien Freck on the desert planet Mapuzo. Freck's name evokes the word "frack," which is apt on multiple levels.
"Fracking" – an abbreviation of "hydraulic fracturing" – is a controversial mining technique that fractures rock formations deep in the earth, allowing access to fuels but negatively impacting the environment.
Freck looks like a mole, a tunneling animal that lives underground, and Mapuzo is a "mining system." Gesturing to the desolate landscape, Obi-Wan tells Leia Organa, "It wasn't always like this here. There were fields and families. And then the Empire came in and ravaged it all." It is appropriate that Freck is part of an Imperial mining operation that has adverse effects on the natural world.
