Fire and Eyes
In the first, second, and third acts of Revenge of the Sith, a villain's eyes are affected by a fiery defeat.
In the first act, R2-D2 is cornered by two Super Battle Droids in the hangar of General Grievous' flagship. He sprays oil into one droid's face, causing it to scream, "My eyes!" He then uses his thrusters to set the oil on fire, burning both of his attackers and leaving their charred remains behind.
In the second act, Obi-Wan Kenobi fights the cyborg General Grievous on Utapau. Obi-Wan defeats Grievous by using a blaster to shoot his exposed organs, setting them on fire. The fire spreads until it flares out of Grievous' eyes, killing him and leaving him a charred corpse.
These confrontations foreshadow the film's climactic battle between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker on Mustafar. After Obi-Wan wins the duel by maiming Anakin, his body falls to the bank of a lava river and catches fire.

Obi-Wan leaves the charred Anakin to die, but Palpatine recovers him and transforms him into the cyborg Darth Vader. The final step of this transformation affects Anakin's vision: Vader's helmet lowers onto his face, the red lenses covering his eyes with technical displays. He has become like the Super Battle Droids and General Grievous; as Obi-Wan says in Return of the Jedi, "He's more machine now than man, twisted and evil."
